       Silence 沉默

silence is soundlessness; silence exists in different forms.

an empty head or a blank mind which leads to speechlessness--that is silence.

enthusia *** fades like dying embers and thus leads to cynici *** and indifference to life, which arouses neither happiness nor sadness, neither worries nor anger, and which costs people their interest in and desire for anything--that is silence.

despite all the experiences of love and hate, of disorientation and reorientation, of order-giving that was answered by hundreds and call-issuing that was not answered by a single soul, there is not a word uttered, but only a clam eye that watches on this world--that is also silence.

worries and sufferings, tastes of changes and vicissitudes of the world, footprints left in mountains and valleys and noises of rivers and oceans cherished in the heart are all but hidden unrevealed--that is still silence.

either an invaluable italian violin or a reed whistle cut out casually would remain silent if they are not played, although the connotations of their silences differ greatly. for even though they are never touched by anybody, you can still imagine the vastly different sounds they can possibly produce.

a flawless jade ornament, or a coarse, gross brick will always remain silent if it is left untouched, but who can draw an equal sign between them?

indeed, for a living being there is no such thing as true silence, for silence itself is a revelation of the mind and the heart, an echo of the soul of a different form.

some people use silence as a disguise of the emptiness of the head.

some use it as a means to depict their disorientation and melancholy.

and some use it as a way of expressing their angers and sorrows.

We all, at one time or another, have pretended to be a rock star, singing and dancing along to our favorite song. Most of us have done this in the privacy of our own room when we were kids and as *** s, in the privacy of our homes. Me? I love to do that when I drive! I turn on the radio, find a song that I can sing along too and pretty soon my arms are in the air and I am moving along to the rhythm. Most of the time, I do this on my way to work.

Yes, that is true. I will be in my nice work clothes, jamming while driving or stopped at a traffic light. I get weird looks from some people and others laugh. Personally, I love to get lost in the rhythm of a song which leads me to share with you the importance of being silly!

The definition for the word silly, according to the dictionary is: stupid, foolish and nonsensical. I know many people do not want to look foolish. So they walk around all serious, which in all honesty, is foolish!

No one is perfect, I repeat: no one is perfect. I don't care how educated, how thin, how beautiful, how simple, how frugal, how rich, and so on… No one is perfect! So why pretend to be something you are not?

Life is so short… You never know when this beautiful journey will be over, so why waste a single second on being so full of rigidity? Here is a quote by Souza, that I think says it all and is a great recipe for life:

“Dance as though no one is watching you,

Love as though you have never been hurt before,

Sing as though no one can hear you,

Live as though heaven is on earth.“

When we were kids, we had no idea of what limitations were and we had no care in the world so we could do things without worrying about how we appeared to others. However, as we grew up, we lost that childlike innocence.

So don't lose the child that still lives within you. The next time you feel down, go turn on your favorite song, and sing and dance along like there is no tomorrow. Or watch something that makes you laugh. Laughter is the best medicine to whatever ails you and nothing is better than laughing so hard that your tummy hurts. Trust me, you will feel a whole lot better, and who doesn't want to feel good?

there was once a lonely girl who longed so much for love. one day while she was walking in the woods she found two starving songbirds. she took them home and put them in a *** all cage. she cared them with love and the birds grew strong. every morning they greeted her with a wonderful song. the girl felt great love for the birds.

one day the girl left the door to the cage open. the larger and stronger of the two birds flew from the cage. the girl was so frightened that he would fly away. as he flew close, she grasped him wildly. her heart felt glad at her success in capturing him. suddenly she felt the bird go limp. she opened her hand and stared in horror at the dead bird. her desperate love had killed him.

she noticed the other bird moving back and forth on the edge of the cage. she could feel his great need for freedom. he needed to soar into the clear, blue sky. she lifted him from the cage and tossed him softly into the air. the bird circled once, twice, three times.

the girl watched delightedly at the bird's enjoyment. her heart was no longer concerned with her loss. she wanted the bird to be happy. suddenly the bird flew closer and landed softly on her shoulder. it sang the sweetest melody that she had ever heard.

the fastest way to lose love is to hold on it too tight, the best way to keep love is to give it wings!

The Legacy

When my hu *** and, Bob, died very suddenly in January 1994, I received condolences from people I hadn't heard from in years: letters, cards, flowers, calls, visits. I was overwhelmed with grief, yet uplifted by this outpouring of love from family, friends and even mere acquaintances.

One message touched me profoundly. I received a letter from my best friend from sixth grade through high school. We had drifted somewhat since graduation in 1949, as she stayed in our hometown and I had not. But it was the kind of friendship that could quickly resume even if we lost touch for five or ten years.

Her hu *** and, Pete, had died perhaps 20 years ago at a young age, leaving her with deep sorrow and heavy res- ponsibilities: finding a job and raising three young children. She and Pete, like Bob and I, had shared one of those rare, close, "love-of-your-life-you-can-never- forget" relationships.

In her letter she shared an anecdote about my mother ***now long deceased***. She wrote, "When Pete died, your dear mother hugged me and said, 'Trudy, I don't know what to say… so I'll just say I love you.'"

She closed her letter to me repeating my mother's words of so long ago, "Bonnie, I don't know what to say … so I'll just say I love you."

I felt I could almost hear my mother speaking to me now. What a powerful message of sympathy! How dear of my friend to cherish it all those years and then pass it on to me. I love you. Perfect words. A gift. A legacy.

Don’t Quit, Keep Playing

Wishing to encourage her young son’s progress on the piano, a mother took her boy to a Paderewski concert. After they were seated, the mother spotted a friend in the audience and walked down the aisle to greet her.

Seizing the opportunity to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the little boy rose and eventually explored his way through a door marked “NO ADMITTANCE.” When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that the child was missing.

Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the impressive Steinway on stage. In horror, the mother saw her little boy sitting at the key- board, innocently picking out Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy’s ear, “Don’t quit. Keep playing.”

Then leaning over, Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached around to the other side of the child and he added a running obbligato. Together, the old master and the young novice transformed a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative experience. The audience was me *** erized.

That’s the way it is in life. What we can acplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren’t exactly graceful flowing music. But when we trust in the hands of a Greater Power, our life’s work truly can be beautiful.

Next time you set out to acplish great feats, listen carefully. You can hear the voice of the Master, whispering in your ear, “Don’t quit. Keep playing.”

Consider...YOU. In all time before now and in all time to e, there has never been and will never be anyone just like you. You are unique in the entire history and future of the universe. Wow! Stop and think about that. You're better than one in a million, or a billion, or a gazillion...

You are the only one like you in a sea of infinity!

You're amazing! You're awesome! And by the way, TAG, you're it. As amazing and awesome as you already are, you can be even more so. Beautiful young people are the whimsey of nature, but beautiful old people are true works of art. But you don't bee "beautiful" just by virtue of the aging process.

Real beauty es from learning, growing, and loving in the ways of life. That is the Art of Life. You can learn slowly, and sometimes painfully, by just waiting for life to happen to you. Or you can choose to accelerate your growth and intentionally devour life and all it offers. You are the artist that paints your future with the brush of today.

       Paint a Masterpiece.

God gives every bird its food, but he doesn't throw it into its nest. Wherever you want to go, whatever you want to do, it's truly up to you.

How strange is the lot of us mortals! Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose heknows not, though he sometimes thinks he senses it. But without deeper reflection one knowsfrom daily life that one exists for other people?first of all for those upon whose smiles and well-being our own happiness is wholly dependent, and then for the many, unknown to us, towhose destinies we are bound by the ties of sympathy. A hundred times every day I remindmyself that my inner and outer life are based on the labors of other men, living and dead, andthat I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am stillreceiving. I am strongly drawn to a frugal life and am often oppressively aware that I amengrossing an undue amount of the labor of my fellowmen. I regard class distinctions asunjustified and, in the last resort, based on force. I also believe that a simple andunassuming life is good for everybody, physically and mentally.

I do not at all believe in human freedom in the philosophical sense. Everybody acts not onlyunder external compulsion but also in accordance with inner necessity. Schopenhauer?ssaying, ?A man can do what he wants, but not want what he wants,? has been a very realinspiration to me since my youth; it has been a continual consolation in the face of life?shardships, my own and others?, and an unfailing wellspring of tolerance. This realizationmercifully mitigates the easily paralyzing sense of responsibility and prevents us from takingourselves and other people all too seriously; it is conducive to a view of life which, inparticular, gives humor its due.

To inquire after the meaning or object of one?s own existence or that of all creatures hasalways seemed to me absurd from an objective point of view. And yet everybody has certainideals which determine the direction of his endeavors and his judgments. In this sense I havenever looked upon ease and happiness as ends in themselves?this ethical basis I call the idealof a pigsty. The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time have given me newcourage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth. Without the sense ofkinship with men of like mind, without the occupation with the objective world, the eternallyunattainable in the field of art and scientific endeavors, life would have seemed to me empty. The trite objects of human efforts?possessions, outward success, luxury?have alwaysseemed to me contemptible.

My passionate sense of social justice and social responsibility has always contrasted oddlywith my pronounced lack of need for direct contact with other human beings and humancommunities. I am truly a ?lone traveler? and have never belonged to my country, my home, myfriend, or even my immediate family, with my whole heart; in the face of all these ties, I havenever lost a sense of distance and a need for solitude-feelings which increase with the years. One becomes sharply aware, but without regret, of the limits of mutual understanding andconsonance with other people. No doubt, such a person loses some of his innocence andunconcern; on the other hand, he is largely independent, of the opinions, habits, andjudgments of his fellows and avoids the temptation to build his inner equilibrium upon suchinsecure foundations.

The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotionwhich stands at the cradle of true art and true science. Whoever does not know it and can nolonger wonder, no longer marvel, is as good as dead, and his eyes are dimmed. It was theexperience of mystery?even if mixed with fear?that engendered religion. A knowledge of theexistence of something we cannot penetrate, our perceptions of the profoundest reason andthe most radiant beauty, which only in their most primitive forms are accessible to our minds?it is this knowledge and this emotion that constitute true religiosity; in this sense, and in thisalone, I am a deeply religious man. I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes hiscreatures, or has a will of the kind that we experience in ourselves. Neither can I nor would Iwant to conceive of an individual that survives his physical death; let feeble souls, from fear orabsurd egoism, cherish such thoughts. I am satisfied with the mystery of the eternity of lifeand with the awareness and a glimpse of the marvelous structure of the existing world, together with the devoted striving to comprehend a portion, be it ever so tiny, of theReason that manifests itself in nature.

How quick come the reasons for approving what we like!

Life seems but a quick succession of busy nothings.

What is right to be done cannot be done too soon.

I have been a selfish being all my life, in practice, though not in principle.

There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart.

Do you think I can stay to become nothing to you? Do you think I am an automation? A machine without feelings? And can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup?

Do you think because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am souless and heartless? You think wrong! I have as much soul as you--and full as much heart! And if god had gifted me with some beauty and wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to live me, as it is now for me to live you. I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh--it is my spirit that address your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave and we stood at God's feet--equal--as we are!

This winter vacation,I read agreat book《Bookworm》.In gread 1,I appreciate the beauty of the moon, and,I know Mary, queen of Soctss story…In a word,I benefited a lot of in it.I really like this book.

Results a murderer is her big daughter!Reason have to her the person I love !

I was very sad.A girl, actually killed her mother,is really too not filial piety.I know people for a variety of reasons will kill your most close. So,we should control oneself, avoid incentive, not reckless things…

        The《Book worm》 has taught me a lot.

In the winter holiday.I read a book.It is very wonderful. Its name is "The monkeys paw".The book tells about the Whites and a paws story.Mr.Whites friend gave him a small and dirty paw.He said "It can makes your dreams come true. But youll feel unhappy."Mr.White wanted ?3000.And after some days,he got ?3000,but his son deid. The end is Mr.White and his wife were very sad.

I think “The monkeys paw” is very useful.Because it tells us some important things.Such as "get something for nothing." is impossible. We must do every things by ourselves. And we must know learn by doing.

When I was 10 years old.I was not good at math. And I had tried to find many escape solutions. But no one is good for me.My mother tolds me,"learn by doing",and I did some test questions. Now,my math is ok.I think my story likes "The monkeys paw".And in the new future,I will do every things by my self and do not rely on my father and mother.I know I am the best.

What a nice story!“The monkeys paw”is perfect, and I will learn more and more in it.

Works of humor and irony, strong sense of comedy, in which most stories with double rhyme verse, influence on later English literature.Figures.

        It is a great book.

I have read a book the other day called The Monkeys Paw which is written by W.W.Jacobs.The story began on a cold and dark night.Old Mr White got a magic monkey paw from his friend Morris.Morris who told him that the monkey paw could give three wishes to three people, but it couldnt bring them happiness. However,Old Mr White still used the paw to make wishes without listening to Morriss discourage. Finally, he got thirty thousand pounds but his son died.At the end of the story,Mrs White almost became crazy. The whole family fell into sadness and fear.

This story is gripping and also a little scary. It is tragic and sobering. The plot is both unexpected and reasonable.Although Old Mr Whites friend had warned him,but he didnt listen. At last it became a tragedy. What caused all this? Its obvious that the Mr Whites greed. He wanted to get the money with no pay,but that is impossible in this world.Im afraid hell live out the rest of his life in regret. The three men who used the monkeys paw all paid an irreparable price for their greed.

This short novel tells us a lesson that we cant daydream.Waiting for money and success comes with no pay is stupid and not realistic. We should work and study harder.Chase the treasure on your own without regret or sadness.

I'm just sitting here in my room today, listening to music while it rains outside my window, and I can't stop thinking about how happy I am and how great my life is. There's nothing particularly special about it - I'm not rich or famous, I'm not exceptionally talented, and I don't do anything particularly fabulous for a living. But I feel somewhat organized, I have a clean room and a car and a job, and most of all what makes it great is the mere fact that I feel happy.

I know this may not seem like the most interesting story in the world, but when I was twelve, I was deeply suicidal.

I'm sharing my good mood today because I know there are tons of people out there who struggle with life.

Not even necessarily the outward details of their lives, but the inner demons that exist within their minds.

I want you to know - if that's you - that the mere possibility of reaching a place of inner peace is worth it. It is worth hanging on for.

I was probably 25 when happiness and contentment became my default emotions. It took a long time, and it took a lot of change, pain and growth. But now that I'm here, it feels permanent. And the emotions of the past feel like they happened to someone else. They are so foreign and distant to me. For some, it may take even longer, and it may take even more. But I cannot imagine even for a second that the struggle wouldn't be worth it if this is the end result.

That's it. I just wanted to share my positive vibes with everybody. The world can be an amazing place if you let it, and you can be an amazing person. You probably already are. Good luck, and please never give up. I hope that today, you all feel a little bit of love. Thanks for reading.

        Being Thankful Despite The Odds

My name is Judy and I am doing a GoFundMe campaign for my mom, everyone knows her as, Kelly.

My mom has been through a tremendous amount of pain and suffering given her ongoing, serious medical issues.

She is beating the odds and fights everyday.

Despite everything, she felt it important to make and deliver fruit gift baskets to all of the doctors and rehab facility offices a couple days ago, just to say "Thank you" for helping her.

She has been in bed since as it wiped her out for days.

        She continues to struggle everyday.

She tries to find the little things she is thankful for and I think this helps her continue to put one foot in front of the other.

She's a trooper! My mom and I are so grateful and appreciative of everyone's help and support so far.

Up to this point, with what we have raised, we have been able to pay some of the bills so far including one of the rehab center bills. Yeah!

But, we still have a lot more bills and collection company notices to pay.

Reaching our goal would help decrease her enormous stress and worry that I know cannot be helping her recover and get stronger.

Asking for help, especially in such a public forum, is very difficult for both of us.

No young man starting life could have better capital than plenty of friends.

They will strengthen his credit support him in every great effort, and make him what, unaided, he could never be.

         Friendship is no one-sided affair.

There can be no friendship without reciprocity.

One cannot receive all and give nothing,or give all and receive nothing, and expect to experience the joy and fullness of true panionship.

Those who would make friends must cultivate the qualities which are admired and which attract.

If you are mean stingy and selfish, nobody will admire you.

         如果你小气、吝啬又自私,没有人会欣赏你。

         You must cultivate generosity and large-heartedness; you must be magnanimous and tolerant;

         你必须培养慷慨和宽巨集大量的气度;你必须有雅量并对人容忍;

you must have positive qualities, for a negative, shrinking, apologizing, roundabout man is despised.

To help others, you don't have to be an efficient expert in the art; the main thing is theintention.

You may be crude and clumsy, wasteful and ineffective, but if you sincerely try to help, yourattempt produces nothing but good.

The one you are trying to help knows your intention and is strengthened and encouraged bythe magic of your sharing.

In nearly every case, your simple desire to help, converted into action, produces the goodsought.

But perhaps the greatest good is the good that you yourself get out of the attempt.

Service to others delivers more joy to you than the joy you deliver to them.

In doing good, you free yourself from the terrible burden of self; you escape from yourself intoa clean world of joy and light.

The good you simply try to do, regardless of the oute, is always a success inside yourself.

         你一心想行的善,不论结果如何,在你心中始终就是一种成功。

         Unselfish giving is your most efficient formula for happiness, for you have embraced Eternityinstead of Self;

         无私的施舍乃是获得快乐最有效的法则,因为你拥抱的是“永恒”而非“自我”;

you have felt Life, and you are now the world bigger than you were before you began theproject.
